Robert George Ruegg was born in Gresham, Oregon, in 1914. He attended elementary and high schools in Nampa, Idaho. He graduated from Oregon State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1939, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Field Artillery Reserve, having been a member of the Reserve Officer Training Corps. He entered Flying School in August, 1939, and received his pilot wings and an appointment as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps Reserve in May, 1940. ...

Charles Thomas Booth was born January 12, 1910, in Penacook, N.H. He received his commission as ensign in the U.S. Navy in 1931. He advanced through the ranks to rear admiral in 1959, and served as commander of Carrier Division Seven from 1945 to 1946. Booth died on February 21, 1989, in Greenville, S.C.
